Roblox users rebuilt Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead 2, and a PS4 menu on the platform without asking permission.
Roblox has always collected knockoffs, but in September it pushed the official route, expanding its licensing platform so creators could use established brands and share revenue with rights holders. These builders skipped that second part entirely and posted whole games for free until the clones got properly ambitious.
Roblox clones now include “1:1” recreations of Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead 2
YouTuber KreekCraft lit the fuse on October 27 by sharing a clip from another YouTuber, SirDapper, showing PlayStation games running inside Roblox.
The experience, called PlayStation Experience and built by Redwing Works, copied the PS4 home menu down to its trophies, web browser and server chat, then offered seven games, including The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Superhot and Undertale. SirDapper then stumbled on Project CS, a Counter-Strike clone, and KreekCraft, utterly stunned, replied, “It’s literally the actual game.”
Hit & Run and Counter-Strike are near-identical to the originals. The Simpson’s game seems to have added a wonky objective arrow to the experience, and Valve’s knockoff appears to lack nothing but a few sound effects.
In KreefCraft’s post comments, players also flagged Left 4 Survival 2, a “1:1” fan-made Left 4 Dead 2 recreation unaffiliated with Valve. None had permission from the original owners, and Hit & Run is currently unavailable on digital storefronts.
The comments also predict a Sony cease and desist is on the way, while some joked “Don’t let Tim Sweeney see this.” Developers have complained before, with viral game Needle in a Haystack getting swarmed by clones after getting popular.
